Spring Flowers

Photos at last of some of our earliest and first spring flowers provided for a local crafts and floral art competition. These double tulips almost look like peonies!

Double tulips

We were really pleased with our first trials – the bulbs have all performed quite well on our raised bed system and even though we were worried about winter waterlogging we haven’t had any bulb rot yet! Hopefully this means its safe to go ahead on a larger scale for 2014/15.

Of course we know that the ferns and mosses will continue to perform – they are so prolific across our woodlands and really beautiful as they unfurl.. the perfect accompaniment to pale primroses bright yellow lamiums and narcissi. The anemones and hellebores are also looking fabulous so more planting ahead!
